Mental Division Basics

Treat division as “how many groups?” or “how many in each group?” and reverse known multiplication facts.

Think of the matching multiply

For 42 ÷ 6, ask “6 times what equals 42?” Skip counting or fact families get you there. For dividing by 2 or 5, use halving and place-value patterns.
