Two-Digit Mental Addition

Combine left-to-right addition, make-ten, and bridging into fluent two-digit sums without writing anything down.

Choose the cleanest path for each sum

Scan the ones digits first. If they make a ten or nearly make a ten, use that. Otherwise add tens, then ones. Flexibility is the goal — not one rigid script.
